Scott Macfarlan L.Ac

Acupuncturist | Valley of the Moon Community Acupuncture.

Hello, I am Scott Macfarlan, and I am one of your Acupuncturists here at Valley of the
Moon Community Acupuncture. I have a true passion for helping others whether it is
through the medicine or just stopping to help someone jump their car on the side of the road. I was originally introduced to acupuncture through my training in Kung Fu, where I fell ill and needed some help. Acupuncture was the one thing that actually helped me and I became an instant believer in the medicine. I trained marital arts for many years and eventually became a Shifu in 8 Step Preying Mantis Kung Fu. It was soon after that I decided to go to school for acupuncture so I could do my best to make a difference in people’s lives.

Before going to school, I worked as a motorcycle mechanic for quite some time and
truly loved the job as well. It was a passion of being able fix stuff as well as knowing
that I am doing the best that I can to keep customers safe on their machines. I actually found diagnosis in the medicine to be second nature as it is very similar to diagnosing a motorcycle. Problem, diagnosis, treatment or fix plan. So, whether it used to be motorcycles, or current patients, I am always doing my best!
Before working on motorcycles, I was a Jr. Network Engineer working for a large country wide title company. I went to school for IT in Santa Rosa and graduated with a double major in Microsoft and Cisco Systems. As much as I love the technology and the digital world, I quickly learned that the corporate world is not for me, which is probably how I ended up in such a personal and effective modality like acupuncture.

On a more personal level, I love the outdoors whether it is up at Clear Lake or just
taking my dogs for a nice walk. Fishing, swimming, hiking and camping are all lovely
activities! I still love to tinker around with the computers and such at home as well as
still getting my hands dirty on my own motorcycles or vehicles. I love a good
conversation and will happily engage in whomever may want to chat. I truly feel
blessed to be able to practice this medicine and be here to help others, whether it is
needles, herbs or just some lifestyle advice (motorcycle advice included). Thank you so much for reading and I hope to see you all in the clinic!
